Local Groups
Meditation creates community - John Main.
Since John Main started the first Christian Meditation Centre in London in 1975, a strong community of Christian meditators has grown steadily around the world. There are currently over 270 Christian meditation groups in the UK.
About Local Groups
Meditators meet in small daily, weekly or monthly groups, and the network of these groups provides wider support and encouragement for those who wish to sustain their daily practice of morning and evening meditation. Groups meet in homes, parishes, schools, prisons, business, religious communities and government departments.
Beginning with a short teaching on meditation, often drawn from the Community’s collection of taped talks by John Main, the group then meditates together in silence for half an hour. After meditation, there is time for discussion. The groups are by nature ecumenical and practice an open-door hospitality, welcoming anyone who comes sincerely seeking silence.
Finding a Group
The best way to find a group is to contact the Regional Coordinator nearest to you. Click here to see a list of coordinators. If you wish to start a new group, please contact the local coordinator for your area.
Groups Online
Although we have over 270 groups in the UK, most meet in private homes and for understandable reasons, do not want their details posting online. However, a small number (mostly those that meet in churches or church halls) are happy to post their details.
Details of these groups will appear here
once they have been checked
Linking Hearts
If there is no group near you, our Linking Hearts network has been set up to enable connections between lone meditators.
